One service or line is assigned to multiple episodes with the same ASSIGNMENT_ID, but counts are different and the cost allocated to one of them. The correct result should be if the ASSIGNMENT_ID is the same for multiple episodes, the cost of the services or line should be equally divided by the episode count.

In SAS^® Episode Analytics 2.1, when two or more claims are tied as the episode triggering claim, sort order of service codes determines the episode that is used. In SEA 2.1.2, when two or more claims are tied as the episode triggering claim, ties are broken by choosing the claim with first ASSIGNMENT_ID. This can affect all subsequent calculations of involving costs.

Note, the EC code in SEA 2.1.2 does not provide identical results to that in SEA 2.1 especially for chronic conditions.
